Killerton National Trust

Killerton National Trust

Cracking Nuts took the opportunity of a day trip on Sunday to personally deliver an order to National Trust, Killerton.  As luck would have it the Great Easter Egg Hunt had just begun, Oliver and Evelyn thoroughly enjoyed searching for giant Easter eggs, fining the letter written on each one, recording it then working out the secret word and receiving a chocolate bunny.

The grounds at Killerton were spectacular, yellow daffodils swaying in the breeze everywhere we looked, pretty little primroses, camellias in full bloom and beautiful magnolias some in flower some in bud waiting to open.  We discovered the most amazing summer house that use to be home to a pet bear! An interesting ice house, wooden toys on the lawn for the children to play with and a tree swing.

Inside the house the children had clip boards and pencils at the ready for the mouse hunt.  In each room a mouse is hidden.  Oliver enjoyed finding the mice and recording in which room he had found them.  Cinja was able to play the 100 year old piano, there was even a dressing up room where everyone could discover colour.  Killerton’s 2016 exhibition is: fashion to dye for.
After all that excitement we enjoyed a well deserved hot chocolate in the tea room and visited the lovely shop and food court where are our Cracking Nuts will be stocked.

Killerton is well worth a visit.
