HOW IT ALL BEGAN
Our Cracking Nuts adventure started in spring 2014, after it struck us just how moreish and tasty the humble nut can be. We came across a 200-year old German recipe, played around with it a little, and came up with a range of sweet and savoury roasted nuts all with our own, unique, modern twist – sweet cinnamon, vanilla, sea-salt, chilli and lime to name a few.
In our first summer, we secured a pitch on Marine Drive above Woolacombe Beach. From our little trailer, we served up freshly roasted hot nuts with coffee and ice creams to hungry surfers, whilst enjoying the sea breeze and breath-taking views.
The positive reaction was overwhelming and convinced us to quit our jobs and ‘go nuts!’ full time.
We still return to Marine Drive whenever we can – serving nuts, hot from the roaster at the beach where it all began. You can also find us roasting at many other food and music festivals around the south west including Spring Classic in Woolacombe and Glastonbury Festival.
The buzz and excitement for Cracking Nuts has kept on growing and in November 2017 we launched our dedicated new nut roasting facility in the heart of Ilfracombe, with views over the picturesque harbour.
Our nuts promise to deliver a flavourful treat to suit any time of the day: try mixing with fruit and yogurt at breakfast, as a protein-rich snack boost mid-morning or post-workout, to sustain you on a long coastal walk or simply to enjoy with a cheeky drink at the weekend.
